We are a not-for-profit organisation based near Selby, North Yorkshire. We work to tackle fuel poverty, supporting vulnerable households with their energy bills, dealing with energy debts, accessing grants and schemes for energy efficiency improvements.

CPD-certified training to equip you to identify and help households whose homes may be too cold for their health and well-being.

<p>It has been estimated that treating illnesses linked to cold homes costs the NHS £540million per year and 4,950 Excess Winter Deaths in winter 2022/23 were attributed to cold homes.</p><p>Our short training course will equip you to make every contact count by identifying who is at risk of ill health from living in a cold home, how to ask people about keeping safe, warm and well at home, and how to help people whose homes may be too cold, including where to refer for further support.</p><p>In doing this, the course specifically responds to the recommendations of NICE Guideline 6 regarding the roles of health and social care practitioners in mitigating the health risks from cold homes.</p><p>We will also cover ways to make sure vulnerable patients can be kept safe and warm through sign-ups to the Priority Services Register, locking cooker valves, and raising awareness of the risks of carbon monoxide.</p><h3><br></h3><h3><strong><strong>Who should attend?</strong></strong></h3><ul><li>Health visitors</li><li>Occupational therapists</li><li>Community nurses or midwives</li><li>Home from Hospital teams</li><li>Care coordinators</li><li>Carers</li><li>Mental health workers</li><li>Social workers</li><li>Social prescriber/link workers</li></ul><p><br></p><h3><strong><strong>Dates and times:</strong></strong></h3><p>This session will run online and you can choose from one of the following dates:</p><ul><li>Wed 4th Sept, 1.30-2.30pm</li><li>Tues 10th Sept, 1.30-2.30pm</li><li>Tuesday 17th Sept, 10-11am</li><li>Wed 25th Sept, 1.30 - 2.30pm</li><li>Thurs 3rd Oct, 10-11am</li><li>Mon 7th Oct, 2-3pm</li></ul><p>The course is free to anyone working in a health or social care setting in North/East/West Yorkshire, the Northeast or Cumbria.</p><p><br></p><h3><strong><strong>Extra information</strong></strong>:</h3><p>We can also run a standalone online session for your team if you have 6 or more staff members who would attend.
