The stories plants tell

Three Rivers is a free-floating social arts agency. We work with local partners to support creative practices, which recognise, resource and respond to people, place, land and community, in the London Borough of Bexley.Three Rivers is funded by Arts Council England, through a programme called Creative Places and People, which focuses on parts of the country where involvement in arts and culture is significantly below the national average.

Beneath the pavement, the marshes

Beneath the pavement, the marshes is a two-year action-research programme delving into the cultural, ecological and political dynamics of Crossness and Erith Marshes.

<h3>We will wander through the Reserve, collectively learning from and with each other about the plants we meet along the way.</h3><p><br></p><p>Moving with a gentle pace, we will focus on slowing down, tuning into our senses, observing and noticing.</p><p><br></p><h4><strong><strong>About </strong></strong><strong><strong>Maymana Arefin</strong></strong></h4><p><a href="https://maymanaarefin.com/" title="https://maymanaarefin.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Maymana Arefin</a> (she/they) is a community organiser, artist, writer and facilitator based in London. Through leading nature immersions, plant and fungi walks, her work focuses on deep rest and healing and restoring our communion with our non-human kin.</p><p>In 2020, Maymana founded @fungi.futures, a space to map radical alternative futures guided by her joy and passion for fungi. Maymana’s award-winning MSc research on how the mycelial networks of fungi may be used as a metaphor for mutual aid seeks to re-imagine an unjust world through a politics of hope. She is strongly committed to justice – in all of its forms – and believes that in order to realise this, we must prioritise care.</p><p><br></p><h4><strong><strong>Important Details</strong></strong></h4><ul><li>This event is FREE and open to everyone. However, participants under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.</li><li>Spaces are limited, so booking is essential. </li><li>Entrance: on Norman Road. Additional information about the meeting point will be sent the day before the event.</li><li>Note: Onsite parking is available. Please consider arriving on foot, by bike, or using public transport.</li><li>Nearest Station: Abbey Wood</li><li>Nearest Bus Stop: Picardy Manorway Eastern Way. Buses: 401 - 601.</li></ul><p><br></p><h4><strong><strong>Accessibility Notice</strong></strong></h4><ul><li>The workshop is not fully accessible for individuals with limited mobility.</li><li>The terrain is mostly flat but includes some stony areas, small inclines, and uneven grasslands.</li><li>The site is outdoors with limited shelter and can become muddy after rain. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing. Bringing water is also recommended.</li></ul>
