AboutHOXTON 253 is a London based non-profit artist run gallery and project space, providing an experimental platform to emerging and mid-career artists.Our aim is to nurture creative talents and to build a community of artists and local residents with the objective to provoke critical dialogue within contemporary culture and society.As a green and sustainability-conscious initiative, our passion lies in creating environments that question our communal and individual responsibilities in regards to our societal and political position in the world, while also dedicating particular attention to highlighting artistic voices that challenge the current untenable system and promote a healthier and sustainable future.Acting as a cultural bridge in the heart of Hoxton, we invite local, national and international creatives to participate in our diverse ongoing program, including exhibitions, experimental and educational projects, residencies, workshops, events and screenings. The space, founded in 2019, has already proven to be a valuable platform to artists including those with non-commercial focus, producing over 50 exhibitions, events, and projects.​Our doors are open to all art lovers, artists, the local community, as well as patrons and collectors.

Witches, Scamps and Things Solo Exhibition programme:  Curator Linda Rocco and Artist Kelly Sweeney in Conversation with Q&A

Hoxton 253 invites you to join curator, writer and researcher Linda Rocco and multidisciplinary artist Kelly Sweeney in conversation as they unpack her solo exhibition Witches, Scamps and Things. This is Sweeney’s first solo exhibition in London since 2016, showcasing a new Arts Council England supported multidisciplinary body of work including film, sculpture, painting and, for the first time performance. Join us for this informal and open dialogue between the artist and co-curator, that very much welcomes audience participation and questions. ​Everyone is welcome, please make sure to RSVP.Experience the artist debut performance piece at our <a href="http://bit.ly/2TaX1HO" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Live Art Event Performance </a>on 2 April between 7-9pm. Linda Rocco is a London-based contemporary art curator, writer and researcher, who graduated from the Royal College of Art. She has curated public events and exhibitions internationally with established small-scale institutions such as Delfina Foundation, to warehouse spaces including Yinka Shonibare’s Studio and the curation of the public sphere for Nine Elms on the South Bank. Linda is co-founder and co-director of the Cambridge-based Festival and programme of workshops ‘I’m Here, Where Are You?’. Linda regularly works as curator for artists and private galleries, as well as consulting for charities, foundations and public institutions on accessibility, inclusivity and collaboration in contemporary and participatory practices.Kelly Sweeney is a London-based multidisciplinary artist who studied at Nottingham Trent University and Chelsea School of Art graduating with an MA in 2014. Sweeney exhibits regularly, and has work in private collections in Europe, Asia, America, Canada and the UK. Witches, Scamps and Things showcases an Arts Council England supported body of work comprising film, sculpture and paintings. A text by curator and writer Linda Rocco accompanies the exhibition.
