We are a not-for-profit organisation based near Selby, North Yorkshire. We work to tackle fuel poverty, supporting vulnerable households with their energy bills, dealing with energy debts, accessing grants and schemes for energy efficiency improvements.

<p>Are you interested in helping the places and people where you live be greener and more sustainable? If so, but you don’t know where to start or would like to improve your knowledge first, this course is designed for you! Reducing waste, growing your own food, repairing clothes, saving energy – all have a range of benefits as well as contributing to reducing carbon emissions. Whether you want to look at your own home, organisation or community, we will provide information, tips and tools to take action, no matter how big or small.</p><p><br></p><h4><strong><strong>The course will cover:</strong></strong></h4><ul><li>background to climate change and UK policies and targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions</li><li>understanding your own carbon footprint</li><li>possible areas of action for your home, organisation or community</li><li>hearing about local environmental projects and initiatives to inspire action</li><li>how to engage others</li><li>where to find sources of funding and practical support</li></ul><p>You will leave the course with an idea for action that you can take forward, contacts for further support, and the opportunity to stay part of a group of like-minded individuals.</p><p><br></p><h4><strong><strong>Who should attend?</strong></strong></h4><p>Although this course in being held in Scarborough, it is open to anyone who lives or works in North Yorkshire who wants to make a difference locally, including anyone from the following groups:</p><ul><li>Parish or Town Council representatives</li><li>VCSE organisations</li><li>Community groups</li><li>Community building management committees</li><li>Local residents who want to contibute to their community</li></ul><p><br></p><h4><strong><strong>Where and when?</strong></strong></h4><p>This course will include:</p><ul><li>in-person course on Friday 8th Nov, 10.30-2.30pm (including lunch), held at The Street in Scarborough (YO12 7PW)</li><li>access to follow-up remote support</li></ul><p><br></p><h4><strong><strong>Further information</strong></strong></h4><p>The course is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.</p>
