What happens in the sessions?

You’ll watch videos and talk about strategies to combat the effects of water scarcity, flooding and coastal erosion  with a small group of other local residents. Through the platform you will be able to vote on various questions and make your voice heard.

No. Anyone is welcome.

How much will I get paid?

Accepted Answer

£25. The experience takes up to 2 hours, so it’s like being paid at living wage for that time. You’ll get a Prezzee voucher (https://www.prezzee.uk/store/prezzee-gift-card/) that can be used in a range of shops.

Who is Catchment to Coast?

These sessions are part of a wider programme called Catchment to Coast, one of 25 Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme (FCRIP) projects across the UK which will reduce flood risk, reduce coastal erosion and improve drought tolerance across Southend and Thurrock.

Catchment to Coast are running the Strategy Room in collaboration with Nesta’s Centre for Collective Intelligence Design.

Are you keeping my data? Why?

Accepted Answer

We collect data so local and national government can understand what people think. All data is anonymised and stored securely by Nesta, which means that no one can connect any of your  answers to you. You can contact Nesta and ask for your data to be removed until it is fully anonymised.

Why are you running these sessions?

We are running these sessions to understand local concerns and preferences on different strategies to deal with flooding, coastal erosion and water scarcity. These will feed into local adaptation strategies for Thurrock and Southend Councils as well as national policy making.
