About this event
This session will offer a basic overview of the Spectrum Acquisition and accessioning procedure. It will cover:
- How the procedure relates to Accreditation and policy
- The procedure’s definition and scope, explaining key concepts and terms
- The Spectrum minimum requirements, with brief examples of how to meet them
- Where to find the Spectrum suggested procedure and briefly how it can be used*
- Signposting to further information
By the end of the session, attendees will:
- Understand how Acquisition and accessioning relates to Accreditation and policy
- Understand how to meet the Spectrum standard for Acquisition and accessioning via the minimum requirements
- Know where to find more information and guidance
*Please note: this session will not cover the content of the suggested procedure.
The event will be delivered via the Collections Trust’s Zoom and will be delivered in a presentation format with a brief Q&A section at the end.
This event supports the Arts Council England Dynamism Investment Principle.
This event will be repeated later in the year and the date will be confirmed closer to the time.
About the trainer
The presentation will be delivered by Anna Rhodes from The Collections Trust. She has over 15 years collections management experience having worked at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery, Macclesfield Museums, Science and Industry Museum, Manchester and the Wordsworth Trust. She has experience across a variety of collections but has a particular interest in art and ceramics. She holds an MA in Art History and the Museums Association AMA.
The Collections Trust is an independent UK-based charity that works with museums, libraries, galleries and archives worldwide to improve the management and use of collections. It is an Investment Principal Support Organisation (IPSO) that delivers support across England in partnership with Museum Development (MD), funded by Arts Council England (ACE), to support Accreditation.
Who should attend?
This event is aimed at beginners or those in need of a refresh. You do not need any prior experience of Spectrum to attend. These sessions have been designed as standalone events so you do not need to attend every session in the series to benefit.
Maximum two delegates per organisation.

This event is delivered in partnership between the Collections Trust and Museum Development England and will be hosted on the Collections Trust’s Zoom account. For the purposes of event administration, Museum Development Midlands (MDM) will need to share your booking details with Collections Trust.
