Morning and Afternoon Workshop information:

A) Student Professionalism: Changing the narrative from negative to positive

The workshop aims to shift the focus from unprofessional behaviors to fostering a positive culture of professionalism among students. Through interactive discussions, educators will explore strategies to promote professional attitudes including exploring professionalism in the context of professional identity formation. We will also address common challenges and effective communication techniques to support students in meeting professional standards in clinical settings

B) A Successful Placement - How to keep everyone safe and feeling like they belong

This workshop will explore our roles in promoting students' sense of belonging; which encompasses them feeling valued, accepted and safe. We will share examples that can strengthen belonging and look at practical strategies to overcome barriers and challenges.

C) From Clinician to Educator: Crafting Your Educator Identity

A deep dive into what it means to be a GP educator, exploring the similarities and differences with our role as a GP and how we can integrate both synergistically. This includes a practical skills workshop and guidance on getting involved in medical education for those new to the field.

D) How to encourage student engagement with creative enquiry in learning

This uses arts-based approaches to enhance reflection, perspective, and personal growth for both students and educators. Participants will engage in exercises such as guided free writing, to experience the power of creative reflection firsthand. The workshop aims to demonstrate how Creative Enquiry can foster deeper understanding, empathy, and professional development in medical practice, while also addressing potential barriers and strategies to overcome them.

E) MLA based OSCE writing - a practical masterclass.

Assessment via OSCE remains a bedrock in the curriculum. Here we will provide you with the knoweldge and resources to write OSCE stations and align them to the MLA. It may be helpful to come to the workshop with a case in mind that you would like to write a station about.
