Our site-specific curation prioritises interactivity, blurring the lines between audience and performer and encouraging self-expression of all forms. An immersive night time journey through the threatened lands of Ryebank Fields.

Ryebank Fields

Join us in Ryebank Fields for an immersive journey through its many wild habitats. Storytelling, music, performance and dance unite to guide us through the land and celebrate its tales - old and new. Members of the local community and Ryebank Fields Protection Camp will be combining their diverse creative talents to craft a candle lit journey through the fields of this rich and historic site, as you may never have seen it before. Immerse yourself in the incredible history, ecology and community of this very special place.8.00pm Join us for foraged tea around the fire with talks from local land protectors, residents, historian and ecologist.9.00pm Walk begins.All are encouraged to stay afterwards around the fire to share, imagine and create together. This is the first event in a week of diverse public workshops and events hosted by the ecological arts group Undergrowth Collective, in support of the critical mass bike ride 'Roll Back the Tracks'. Please book ahead to avoid disappointment.Committed land protectors have been occupying Ryebank Fields since 24th April 2021 and are actively campaigning to Save Ryebank Fields from development by Manchester Metropolitan University. MMU were gifted this land for sports purposes only by Manchester City Council, however, this land, that means so much to local wildlife and residents is currently under threat of development. Once an industrial wasteland, this is a rare site of truly successful rewilding, a natural oasis hidden just a stones throw from central Manchester.This event is pay by donation, on a sliding scale dependent on income. Please pay as you are able to.
