A course to cover the core Mathematical skills required in A level Computer Science

About this Event

This course aims to develop knowledge and skills in how computers deal with calculations and binary floating point representation. In particular it deal with how computers treat negative numbers, how floating point numbers are represented using mantissa and exponent, and how arithmetic operations on these are applied

1) Use of sign and magnitude and two’s complement to represent negative numbers in binary.

Representation and normalisation point numbers in of floating binary.

2) Floating point arithmetic, positive and negative numbers, addition and subtraction.

3) To be able to apply these to questions in an examination setting
