A Quest For Star Bits

A Quest For Star Bits

Hilton HouseManchester, England
Friday, Apr 10 from 6 pm to 9 pm
Overview

An introspective exhibition by Dom Aly that explore the concepts of self-identity, nostalgia, urban experience, perception and sexuality.

'A Quest For Star Bits' is an introspective exhibition that explore the concepts of self-identity, nostalgia, urban experience, perception and sexuality. In his first solo exhibition, Dom delves into the paradigms of identity, questioning the make-up of personality and its constituents; he asks what is it that makes us unique? Is it memories, experiences, passions? To what extent are we sculpted by our past and how does individuality manifest itself under the notion of existentialism. Dom spars with self discovery in 'A Quest For Star Bits' - a reminiscent monologue the evokes the frivolity of adolescence, the innocence of early technology, and the yearning of sensing the catharsis of new experience.

We are proud to use this exhibition as a platform to raise awareness for akt (legally The Albert Kennedy Trust). As the only national charity in the UK dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ young people aged 16–25, akt provides a lifeline for those who are currently homeless or living in hostile environments.

Every donation helps provide safe homes, mentorship, and emergency support to ensure no young person has to choose between their identity and a roof over their head.
