Our May lecture looks at how we can keep young people safe as they transition from childhood to adulthood.
About this event
Do the difficulties and challenges affecting a young person’s life disappear the day they turn 18 and pass into ‘adulthood’? Of course not – and many young people’s organisations recognise this by providing services that extend into young adulthood and recognise how blurry the boundaries between different stages of a person’s life can be.
Safeguarding – the formal process of keeping people safe from abuse and neglect – is one area that has been slow to catch up. However, the new approach of ‘transitional safeguarding’ seeks to change this, and offer a safer route into adulthood for young people at risk. We’re delighted to have Dez Holmes, Director of Research in Practice and one of the pioneers of transitional safeguarding, with us on Tuesday 31 May to introduce the concept and explain what it means for our communities.
Please join us at 5.50pm for a 6pm start. You'll receive Zoom details when you book.
