A Slice Through Time
Walking the Hull District Heating Network with Humber Field Archaeology
Hull City Centre Saturday 23 May 2026
Starting:10am, at the junction to Block 3 on Great Thornton Street
Finishing: 12pm Trippet Street (the site of the new Energy Centre)
Distance Covered: 1.3m (2.1km) Terrain: Flat – mobility accessible to all
As part of the Council for British Archaeology’s Out And About Archaeology week come and join Humber Field Archaeology (HFA) on an urban walk along the route of the Hull District Heating Network. As part of the installation of the heating network HFA are working alongside the team delivering the project to make observations on the archaeology that is revealed along its route. The walk will be lead by Peter Connelly, HFA’s Archaeology Manager, who will walk you through what has been found so far – including new insights into Hull’s medieval town wall - and the landscape that the heating network will pass through – including where Wyke on Hull may have been situated 850 years ago.
This will be the perfect opportunity to step back in time and explore the archaeology of Hull’s urban landscape.
This event is limited to 25, if this becomes full please join the waitlist and if there is enough demand we will hopefully look at doing a second walk.
