A Space For Hope

St Andrews Botanic Garden is a living research and conservation experiment where we explore the ways ecology and evolution unfold in the plant kingdom - right at the heart of historic St Andrews.W﻿e have an exciting programme of events, activities and workshops for a range of audiences - all designed to support communities of both plants and people!

A collaborative interactive installation on climate hope - hosted at St Andrews Botanic Garden

A Space for Hope is an interactive installation which seeks to create space for climate hope amongst increasing climate anxiety.This interactive installation will include documentary footage, guided movement and creative writing, to encourage reflection on our shared fears and hopes for the future.The Thursday workshop will be an extended version of the installation and audience members will play an active role in shaping the final form of the installation. Audience members are welcome to attend both the workshop and the installation itself. The installation will run four times, on the hour, from 12pm to 3pm on the Saturday. Join us in making space for hope.The installation is a collaboration between ShyBairn Theatre, Alucinari productions, Aura CuriAtlas Physical Theatre and the University of St Andrews’ School of Geography and Sustainable Development. ShyBairn Theatre (<a href="https://www.shybairntheatre.co.uk/" title="https://www.shybairntheatre.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.shybairntheatre.co.uk/</a>) create theatre projects that seek to contribute to social change, their previous projects include ‘This is What Utopia Looks Like’, which ran at St Andrews Botanic Garden in November 2024. Adrian Fisk, of Alucinari productions, is a prolific photographer and documentary filmmaker, whose work explores a range of topics, including social justice, environmentalism and climate action: <a href="https://www.adrianfisk.com/" title="https://www.adrianfisk.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.adrianfisk.com/</a>.
