Lecturer and game developer Iona Ferguson leads this online workshop on the fundamentals of programming, ideal for those wanting to get started with writing their own programs. This workshop assumes absolutely no prior knowledge and is intended to serve as a starting point for people with little or no programming experience to explore further themselves.

About the facilitator:

Iona Ferguson (she/her) is a lecturer in Immersive Systems Design at The Glasgow School of Art where she teaches: game design, coding and audio design and is a researcher investigating the experiences of LGBTQ+ people in computing education. She is also a solo game developer at Arboreta Games where she has released three games - The Black Iris (2021), It Sleeps Below the Haar (2024) and Unto the Aurora (2025).

Access information for this event:

This event is for ages 18+ and will be held online. You will need a good internet connection and a laptop/computer/mobile device to join us.

There will be 15 attendees maximum, and the event will feature comfort breaks. During this event, attendees will participate in: hands-on activities/whole group discussions
