A Universal Basic Income is a regular payment from the state to everyone, like the state pension and child benefit. It has the potential to significantly reduce poverty, inequality and boost income security for millions in this country.

What would you do with a UBI payment? How would it change your life?
UBI trials around the world - from Canada, to Finland and India - have shown it's potential to improve the health of those communities, by reducing the stresses associated with financial insecurity. It also showed that a UBI could support people who want to set up a business and seek further education. And none of the trials have shown that people work less!
Too many people are living in poverty and insecurity, too many are forced to use food banks and too many are homeless. Isn't it time we tried something new?
A UBI could be part of the answer and Leeds could be the first place to try it.
