About this event

  • 2 hours

Join David Simmonds for a walk through ‘Baker Country’ visiting sites mentioned in the letters and diaries of J. A. Baker, the author of The Peregrine (1967).

Tracing Baker’s links to Admirals Park and Writtle, this 5km/ 3 1/4 mile walk will guide you along footpaths and a short section of – possibly muddy and uneven – field, exploring an area where Baker worked and birdwatched as a young man.

We will meet at Tower Gardens Car Park, CM1 2PL.

Led by David, organised by Chelmsford Museum as part of the exhibition Restless Brilliance: The story of J.A. Baker and The Peregrine, on until 3 November 2024.
