This webinar will support you to start using AAC with your child in a way that supports connection, autonomy and long-term progress.

Alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) includes a range of methods that can support communication in children who are non- or minimally-speaking. This webinar will specifically be focusing on neurodiversity-affirming practice with robust, primarily power-based AAC, and will help you to get started with using it with your autistic child. This webinar will be useful for both parents and professionals who work with non-speaking and minimally-speaking autistic children, including those for whom other communication methods have not been effective.We aim to answer these questions:-	What is AAC?-	Who is AAC for?-	What are our long-term goals for AAC for our autistic children? -	What factors are important to meet these long-term goals?-	What does an autistic child need from an AAC system?-	How do we get started with AAC?-	How can we get extra support with AAC?This will be a recorded session, and will be emailed to everyone that signs up by the 10th May 2022. Please contact us afterwards with any questions you might have, and you&#x27;ll receive a personal reply.This webinar is presented by Amanda Haydock (MEd (autism)) from Spectrum Connection CIC, who is a certified PACT therapist, DIR/Floortime therapist, and AAC and autism specialist. She is also autistic and advocates for child-centric, relationship-based models of support for autistic children, and access to alternative communication methods as early as possible. The proceeds from this webinar will be used to provide AAC devices to autistic children under the age of five.We have a limited number of free tickets available to families experiencing financial difficulty.
