We're delighted to open bookings for our next Business Development Apprenticeship.

Adapting to current circumstances, we’ve moved the course online meaning it’s accessible for all entering the world of new business, regardless of geographical location.
"The AAR BDA course was brilliant! The most valuable part of the course for me was the real-life situations you were put under. The RFI, Chemistry and feedback from real industry professionals was an invaluable experience that has set me in good stead for my career in advertising." Spring 2020 delegate

OVERVIEW
Having a strong business development team is crucial if you are to compete in today’s crowded market place. Many agencies start by choosing from within their agency and so getting that person up to speed as quickly as possible is vital. In order to help agencies in this very important area, eight years ago we created an intense five-session course singularly aimed at agency staff who were 'new' to new business.Accredited by the IPA and IDM as contributing towards the Continuous Professional Development award scheme, the course provides both practical and theoretical advice, including recommendations on new business strategy, business development from existing clients, targeting and pitching techniques. In addition, participants gain practical experience of completing RFI’s, participating in Chemistry Meetings and receiving feedback.
"I really enjoyed the BDA course. It’s been thoroughly informative, with so many learnings I will take forward as I progress in my new business career. Hugely beneficial for anyone entering into new business in our industry." Spring 2020 delegate
At the start of the course, participants are divided into teams of four and compete against the other groups during the course.
COURSE OUTLINE

Session 1 - Background to new business, understanding clients, facts and figures, what makes people good at new business, how does new business/pitching vary by discipline, issue of RFI and Chemistry Meeting brief

Session 2 - New business strategy (proactive v reactive), completing an RFI, running a New Business department

Session 3 - Feedback on RFI, what makes a good chemistry meeting

Session 4 - Live remote chemistry meetings

Session 5 - Feedback on Chemistry Meetings, pitch experience from recent client

"As a new member of the New Biz team at my agency, I have helped prep RFI’s and chemistry meetings but haven’t been leading the planning, or actually attending the chemistry/pitch meetings, so this was a really great opportunity to experience both of these things…and practicing presenting is obviously never a bad thing!"
