ABERDEEN TALKS -
Union Street
We're delighted to welcome Dr Fiona-Jane Brown to our Aberdeen Talks Series at Michies Union Street.
Join us for a fascinating journey through time as local historian and published author Dr Fiona-Jane Brown brings to life the rich and ever-evolving story of Aberdeen’s iconic Union Street.
Dr Brown is widely known for her Hidden Aberdeen series, including Hidden Aberdeen: History on Your Doorstep and Under Your Feet, where she uncovers the lesser-known stories, characters and events that lie beneath the surface of the city. Her work blends rigorous research with engaging storytelling, revealing everything from royal visits and historic crimes to forgotten landmarks and curious local connections.
In this special talk, she will draw on her deep knowledge of Aberdeen’s past to explore how Union Street developed — from its grand 19th-century vision to its role at the heart of city life today — sharing the hidden stories that make this famous street so unique.
Whether you’re a lifelong Aberdonian or simply curious about the city’s past, this is a rare opportunity to hear from one of the North East’s most engaging historical voices.
This is a FREE event but booking is essential, either in-person at the gift shop counter, by tel. 01224 585312 or via Eventbrite.
The cafe will be open in advance, so why not also grab lunch, tea/coffee or one of our amazing homemade tray bakes or cakes!
