Absolute Beginners Dressmaking Course (10 weeks)

This is a ten-week course and will cover all the essential skills you’ll need to be able to make your own clothes from commercial patterns

You will learn how to:
• Use the sewing machine
• Read and understand paper patterns
• Take body measurements for dressmaking
• Cut out and mark up fabric
• Follow sewing instructions
• Complete a variety of sewing techniques
• Use tools required, from tape measures to sewing hams
• Make best use of fabrics and their differing qualities

During this course you will make a dress using a commercial pattern.

What you will need to bring:

If you have a domestic sewing machine, please bring it along. The tutor has some resources in the classroom, but will also suggest essential equipment to purchase to support your learning experience. A tape measure and yourself is all that is required on the first evening
