How do you ensure that a website is accessible? How do you embed testing into your process so that accessibility issues are caught early and efficiently?

This talk will take a look at the ins and outs of accessibility testing; covering automated and manual testing and including people with a range of access needs and provide tips and tricks to help you design an effective testing strategy.

Alistair Duggin

Alistair joined Nomensa as a Principal Accessibility Consultant with 18 years of accessibility, frontend development and design experience. Previous roles include Head of Accessibility at Government Digital Service (GDS), Senior Accessibility Engineer at Apple and Principle Web Developer and Accessibility Champion at the BBC. ​

Alistair brings a vast amount of hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of delivering accessible products and services, accessibility standards and regulations, setting and driving an organisation's accessibility strategy and building accessibility communities.​

Whilst at GDS Alistair was responsible for ensuring that GOV.UK was an exemplar for inclusive design and transformed the UK Government’s approach to accessibility. As the UK Government’s accessibility Subject Matter Expert he supported policy colleagues implementing the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations and led the research and creation of accessibility guidance for both the Government Service Standard and the Accessibility Regulations. ​

Alistair is a respected member of the global accessibility community and enjoys collaborating and sharing accessibility best practice. He is an engaging and motivating speaker and writer. ​
