Advanced Materials in Medicine at Manchester

This workshop is being held to encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration, with the outcome of applying for AECD funding. The project you propose must involve the creation of early cancer models.
The International Alliance for Cancer Early Detection (ACED) is a new £55 million partnership between Cancer Research UK, the Canary Center at Stanford University, the University of Cambridge, the Knight Cancer Institute at OHSU, University College London and the University of Manchester.
The Alliance is uniting world leading researchers to tackle the biggest challenges in early detection, an important area of unmet clinical need. Scientists in the Alliance are working together at the forefront of technological innovation to translate research into realistic ways to improve cancer diagnosis, which can be implemented into health systems and meaningfully benefit people with cancer. 
This workshop is designed to bring together UoM researchers across faculties to put forward a project. 
Bids for ACED funding must propose of researchers from a number of institutions. A second workshop will take place in 2020, where we will bring in researchers from other Institutions in order to meet the criteria.
 
Agenda:
09.00 – Coffee, fruit and pastries
09.30 – Rob Bristow to open with a talk about ACED &amp; MCRC
09.45 – Martin Bone to discuss the calls and deadlines
Intro to speed dating concept (5 min) Martin Bone
09.50 – Attendees give a 45 second talks: including their name and affiliation (5 seconds), areas of interest and expertise (20 seconds), 2 collaborative needs (20 seconds)
11.00 – Discussion over coffee
12.00 – Close
