Nurturing our youngest children through art and play.Magic Acorns is an early years arts development organisation which aims to build a community of practice around early years arts in the East of England by developing cross-sector connectivity, igniting productive partnerships and inspiring new ways of working. We work with artists, early years practitioners, arts organisations and importantly our youngest children and their families to develop new work, experiences and practices.

An online session with Charlotte Jolly and Maddie Broad sharing their experience of creating Roly Poly  - a musical playscape for under-twos

Welcome to the Acorn NetworkJoin our next networking event on Monday 10 February to hear from Maddie Broad and Charly Jolly about their experience of creating Roly Poly - a musical playscape for under-twos.You’ll get to hear about their creative process and the first tour of their show for babies and toddlers. There will also be opportunities for playful participation and discussion.Together we’ll think about how music, movement and theatre experiences can be devised specifically with and for under-twos and ask what do we mean by musical messy play? What if we have permission to be silly?Join in the discussion and connect with other people passionate about creativity and early years. Everyone is welcome!The Acorn Network aims to bring together artists, educators and cultural organisations to share and discuss creative practice for very young children. This session is being recorded and will be shared with ticket holders after the event for 30 days. About Maddie and CharlyMaddie Broad is a participatory artist, musician and dancer based in Brighton. They have been an associated artist with Magic Acorns since 2021 and will be spending Feb - May touring Scotland with a baby show produced by the Early Years arts organisation Starcatchers. Maddie is currently developing a dance practice in nurseries, mentored by Louise Klarnett, offering attuned improvised movement with children during free play. Charly Jolly is a musician and creator of performance pieces for children. She uses improvisation, playfulness, the voice and clarinet in her work. She is an early years specialist and is a Magic Acorns associate artist. She also works as a workshop leader, enjoying creatively connecting and collaborating with people in the community.
