Event description

Planning adaptation to climate change impacts at the local level requires understanding of the current and projected climate hazards and which sectors currently are or will become most vulnerable. Assessment of these risks and vulnerabilities is a first step towards the overall management of climate change risks.

This webinar, part of the Covenant of Mayors series on climate change adaptation, will explore the various aspects of conducting a risk and vulnerability assessment at the city level. Practitioners will share their experiences why urban adaptation is important, what are some of the lessons learned in assessing risks and what hands-on tools are available to support cities in their efforts.

  • Maaike Breugelmans, City of Ghent, Belgium
  • Jorge Cristino, City of Guimarães, Portugal
