Additional Licensing Scheme: Landlord Application Workshops
In-person event for landlords on Peterborough City Council's city-wide new Additional Licensing Scheme.
Peterborough City Council has designated a city-wide Additional Licensing Scheme, which will come into force on 26 January 2026 and remain in effect until 25 January 2031.
The scheme will apply to certain HMOs in Peterborough that are not already covered by Mandatory HMO Licensing, requiring landlords to obtain an Additional HMO Licence if they rent to three or four unrelated people who share a toilet, bathroom, or kitchen.
Applications must be made via Home Safe, the Council’s appointed delivery partner for the scheme. Applications open to landlords on 26 January 2026.
To support you, this in-person event will provide clear, practical guidance on the scheme, including who needs to apply, what documentation is required, and how to remain compliant once licensed.
The session will cover:
- Overview of the licensing scheme and Home Safe’s role as the Delivery Partner
- Guidance on who should apply as the Licence Holder
- Step-by-step walkthrough of the Landlord application process
- Documentation required to support your application
- Post-submission steps and ongoing compliance responsibilities
- Information on inspections and what to expect
- Support and benefits available through Home Safe
- Q&A session
The information covered in this event is tailored for landlords. Separate events are taking place for letting agents on the same day. Please visit the Council's website for further information.
