About this event

This interactive course is for frontline workers or volunteers to help increase your knowledge, understanding and confidence around ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).

It’s suitable for those who work with children, young people, adults, parents/carers and their families. Comprises two x 2.25-hour sessions on consecutive weeks.

We’ll explore what ADHD is, how it presents and why - and share practical day-to-day ideas and strategies to best support individuals and families and maximise their potential. It's based on the 'Practitioners ADHD Toolkit' multi-agency training I've delivered to front line workers on behalf of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) Safeguarding Children Partnerships on a quarterly basis since 2020.

Includes:

  • Why the ADHD brain is different
  • The impact on executive functioning (day-to-day living) skills e.g. planning, organisation, short term memory and time management
  • Diagnostic criteria
  • ADHD medication
  • Positives of having ADHD
  • Creating an ADHD-friendly 'tool kit'
  • A full copy of the PowerPoint presentation to refer back to

Places are limited on this interactive workshop to allow for any questions you may have. Register now and secure your spot! New dates are being added all the time so if these don't suit keep an eye out for future events.

Please note the content of this workshop is most appropriate for those living in the UK. It does not include any classroom-specific strategies, but a great deal of the content is appropriate for educators.

About the trainer - Ian Hall, ADHD Specialist Coach, Trainer and Consultant

I’ve spent 20 years working with - and learning from - thousands of people with ADHD. This includes children, young people, parents/carers, adults and their families, along with the practitioners who support them.

Until December 2024 I was with ADHD Solutions CIC, an independent not-for-profit voluntary organisation working across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, which unfortunately came to an end due to financial reasons. I was diagnosed with ADHD in adult life so bring a wealth of personal as well as professional experience to my work. My aim is always to present up to date, relatable information that reflects the reality of living with ADHD.

Frequently asked questions

Who is this workshop for?

Practitioners who work with ADHD clients of any age.

Is it interactive?

There will be opportunities to ask questions if you want to or you can just listen in if you prefer.

Will there be a break?

Yes! We'll have a 15-minute break at the halfway point.

Will there be breakout rooms?

No. Based on past experience, I've found that participants have raised questions and made valuable contributions using the chat function or via their mics which has made for interesting discussions so it's not something I tend to use.
