Why are the creative industries dominated by people with ADHD? What is the link between ADHD and the arts, music, drama, content creation, and comedy? Explore creativity through an ADHD informed lens: join Dr Tom Nicholson in challenging standard medical conceptualisations of “problematic ADHD symptoms” by demonstrating the potential benefits ADHD symptoms may give those working within the creative industries. This workshop will give an overview of ADHD, followed by a discussion of what ADHD means for creatives, and how creatives can make their own work more neuro-inclusive.About the HostDr Tom Nicholson is a lecturer of mental health nursing and a speaker, trainer, and advocate for neurodiversity and ADHD. Tom's PhD project explores the lived experiences of parents whose children are undergoing ADHD assessment, listening to, and retelling their changing stories over a period of two years: From waiting list, to diagnosis, to living with a diagnosis. Tom is a registered mental health nurse with experience working within the neurodevelopmental assessment service within the Children and Young People's service.
