About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

As part of the celebrations of the return of the Lambeth Shakespeare Folios, we are delighted to be hosting Shakespearean actor/director Adjoa Andoh. Adjoa will be giving a selection of her favourite readings from Shakespeare’s plays using our earliest folio dating from 1632.

Adjoa is maybe best known for her role as Lady Danbury in the Netflix Regency romance series Bridgerton but her connections to Shakespeare have been lifelong, playing lead roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company and conceiving, co-directing and starring in the first all women of colour Shakespeare production on a UK stage with her critically acclaimed Richard II at the Globe Theatre, followed by her groundbreaking Richard III at Liverpool Playhouse and The Rose Theatre. Adjoa is an Honorary Fellow of the British Shakespeare Association, an honorary fellow of the Shakespeare Association of America, an Emeritus Fellow of St. Catherine's College, Oxford and an honorary fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.

Join Adjoa at the Lambeth Archives to celebrate Shakespeare and hear her take on what makes the Bard relevant to our world today.
