Advent Choral Masterpieces - The Newman Schola
Join us for an evening of Choral Masterworks, spanning from the renaissance period all the way to contemporary composers. Featuring works from Victoria, Josquin and Bruckner, as well as traditional Advent favourites and carols.
Founded in 2021, the Newman Schola has performed in both concert and lirturgical settings up and down the country, as well as releasing its first recording in 2024. Originally founded to be the regular accompiament to the ligurties of the Unviersity of Birmingham Catholic Chaplaincy (Newman House), the choir prides itself on its deep connection to the expression of the Catholic faith, in which the music it performs is rooted.
The Newman Schola is directed by Colin Lapus.
The concert will last for approximately 1 hour. At the end of the concert there will be a retiring charity collection.
