2D Installation Workshop with Isabel Pina Ferreira

This workshop is for the art worker who spent months writing dissertations on object-oriented ontologies but is afraid of nails and drills, for the confident technician who wants to meet fellow female and non-binary art handlers, as it is for anyone wanting to discuss the art of 2D installation and exchange advice and tricks. The workshop will focus on sharing case-specific experiences based on a variety of different spaces and artworks. We will then talk about tool kits, fittings and fixings and hanging wall-based works.We will also discuss platforms, organisations and networks supporting and promoting the work of art handlers (such as arttechspace, levelit.network, PACCIN, Museum Association and of course, Instagram)BRING YOUR QUESTIONS, WE’LL BRING COFFEE AND BISCUITS. We encourage participants to come with their own case-specific practical dilemmas. This workshop will be led by Isabel Pina Ferreira, Principal Art Handling Technician for Collection Care at Tate and former Senior Art Technician at Cadogan Tate Fine Art. Isabel has been working as an art handler for over 8 years, working on complex installations in galleries, private houses, auctions and art fairs.------Raven Row's workshop space is wheelchair accessible.
