BITC Cymru - Age-Inclusive Learning Network Online Workshops 2023

The Wales Age-Inclusive Learning Network brings professionals with an interest in age inclusion together online, to hear and share best practice, share learning, network and to hear from a topic expert speaker covering issues such as: positive ageing, recruitment and retirement. The workshops are organised by responsible business network Business in the Community through the Age at Work programme.There are a range of topic-specific workshops available and participants can register for one or multiple sessions. Please see below for details on the workshops in the series.Each workshop lasts a maximum of 1.5 hours and can host a maximum of 15 businesses. Each business can appoint two participants.Registration for the Network will be confirmed upon completion of the <a href="https://www.bitcni.org.uk/agereview/sign-up-2/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Age-Inclusive Business Review</a>. This tool takes approximately 20-25 minutes to complete and will give participants an insight into their organisation’s strengths in relations to age inclusion, and identify potential gaps. Each participant will receive a short, confidential report.Preparation for Retirement l Wednesday 1 March 2023 10:00 – 11:30amMoving towards retirement can be a time of mixed feelings for many employees. What has traditionally been seen as a positive event can also evoke concern about loss of identity, adapting to change, managing finances, health implications and facing the next important stage of life with purpose. In this workshop we will discover the trends in retirement with an ageing workforce and the benefits of supporting employees to take control and develop a plan that is unique to them. The workshop will be an opportunity for organisations to review the experiences of their people as they move towards retirement, consider the challenges they face, review what support is already offered and how they can be supported further to make this important transition a positive one.Businesses and organisations that support their people through all stages of the employment journey send out powerful messages about how they value their people. Join us to discover how you can support the people in your organisation to move towards retirement with clarity and confidence and design a life that is right for them. The workshop includes:• Trends in retirement with an aging workforce• What will retirement look like in the future of work?• What are the psychological impacts of retirement?• What are the individual benefits in supporting people to prepare for retirement?• What are the benefits to the organisation in terms of wellbeing, performance, retention and overall culture?Positive ageing | Wednesday 25 January 2023 | 10:00 AM – 11.30 AMWith an ageing workforce, the need to support people to remain healthier for longer is essential, both for their own wellbeing and for the overall performance of the organisation. With experts estimating that over 70% of age-related illness are preventable – there are many simple easy habits that people can instil, which, over time have a powerful positive impact on their health, mood and performance. This workshop will help HR professionals to review the needs of their workforce in relation to ageing, identify the challenges and share solutions and best practice.Join us to explore how we can support an ageing workforce to change their behaviour for longevity and how to build a diverse and inclusive culture which takes a positive and proactive approach to ageing. This workshop includes:• The impact of age-related illnesses on the workforce and organisations• What is positive ageing?• Lessons from the Blue Zones• Developing positive ageing habits• Creating a positive ageing and inclusive culture in the workplaceRegistrationEach organisation should register for the workshops they are interested in, you do not need to attend all workshops.
