About this Event

The Agendashift Deep Dive workshop ‘Coaching and leading continuous transformation’ is the Agendashift engagement model delivered in the form a highly immersive workshop. It is aimed at coaches, consultants, and managers wishing to:

  • Develop their coaching and leadership skills in the areas of enquiry, facilitation, strategy deployment, and change leadership
  • Broaden and deepen their appreciation of the Lean-Agile landscape and related bodies of knowledge and their strategic application to organizational development

Your facilitator will be Agendashift founder Mike Burrows.

This online workshop will be delivered over 4 days, two 2-hour sessions per day:

  2. February 23rd, 12:30-14:30 GMT (13:30-15:30 CET)
  3. February 24th, 09:30-11:30 GMT (10:30-12:30 CET)
  4. February 24th, 12:30-14:30 GMT (13:30-15:30 CET)
  5. February 25th, 09:30-11:30 GMT (10:30-12:30 CET)
  6. February 25th, 12:30-14:30 GMT (13:30-15:30 CET)

That's 16 hours of session time, and there will be opportunity for informal conversation and questions before and after most sessions.

Who should attend?

The Deep Dive workshop is aimed at all agents and leaders of organizational change – whether internal or external, specialist practitioner or sponsor. Whilst the majority of attendees have been coaches and consultants, a significant number have held managerial and business leadership roles.

You will have ample opportunity to put them into your organizational context and demonstrate Agendashift’s ability to meet organizational needs in ways such as these:

  • Launching, refocusing, or reenergizing continuous transformation in your organization
  • Enhancing your organization’s internal coaching and change management capability
  • Embedding outcome-orientation and continuous transformation through leadership development

Workshop Outcomes

  • Practice in a range of outcome-oriented facilitation techniques
  • Recognition of the role of outcome orientation in the modern organization
  • Understanding of the integration of techniques and concepts from Lean-Agile, Kanban, Clean Language, Cynefin, Lean Startup, and A3
  • Awareness of the power of feedback loops in organizational behaviour and evolution

Workshop Overview

Sessions 1 & 2: Discovery – Describing where we'd like to get to

Exploring organizational context, objectives, obstacles, and outcomes using these Core exercises:

  • Celebration-5W
  • True North / Obstacles
  • 15-minute FOTO (Lite)
  • Plan on a Page

This structure provides a great example of the generative pattern Ideal, Obstacles, Outcomes (IdOO).

Sessions 3 & 4: Exploration – Prospecting for opportunities

The opportunity to practice skills acquired in Discovery and to reinforce the IdOO pattern:

  • Assessment / Survey Debrief / Obstacles
  • Challenge Mapping
  • 15-minute FOTO (Classic)

Across the first four sessions, additional material/exercises may cover:

  • Culture, Values, and Systems Thinking
  • Outside-in Strategy Review

Session 5: Mapping – Building a visual transformation plan

The output of Exploration fed through a string of complementary mapping exercises:

  • Option Approach Mapping (not its real name)
  • Option Relationship Mapping
  • Pathway Mapping

Additional material/exercises may cover:

  • Complexity theory and its application
  • Other mapping and strategy tools
  • Strategy model reconciliations

Session 6. Elaboration: Framing actions, testing our thinking

  • User Stories, Job Stories, and Hypotheses
  • Option selection
  • Ideation and the 2MBM patten
  • Experiment A3

Session 7. Right-to-Left Strategy Deployment and Changeban

Session 8. Operation: Change as real work

  • Outside-in Service Delivery Review
  • Putting it together

This highly interactive session will be conducted over Zoom with Google Docs and Miro. Participants will need to connect from a computer and over a suitable network – any corporate firewalls etc allowing access to those tools.

All participants will receive a certificate of participation and qualify for a £50 discount on the Agendashift partner programme. Existing partners receive the discount on their next renewal.

Your facilitator will be Agendashift founder Mike Burrows. Mike is the author of the Lean-Agile classic Kanban from the Inside (2014) and Agendashift: Outcome-oriented change and continuous transformation (2018); his third book Right to Left: the digital leader’s guide to Lean and Agile was published in 2019 and as an audiobook in 2020. Outside of Agendashift, he is known for Kanban’s values model, the Featureban and Changeban games, and as a strong advocate for participatory and outcome-oriented approaches to change, transformation, and strategy. Prior to his consulting career, Mike was global development manager and Executive Director at a top tier investment bank, CTO for an energy risk management startup, and interim delivery manager for two of the UK government’s digital exemplars.
