<h3>About this event</h3>AI Conversations is a new series of weekly online discussions on how AI is affecting teaching and learning in an arts based institution. Invited subject specialists will start a conversation on their chosen topic. Kings CollegeIn this first conversation Martin will delve into the intricate relationship between AI and education assessment, examining the extent to which AI could drive changes in the way we evaluate students learning. 1 3 Oct - How are university students using AI?Sue Attewell. Head of Edtech. JISCOver the last year JISC have been doing some original research on how university students have been incorporating AI into their learning journey and daily lives. Sue will discuss this research and the impact it will have on teaching and assessing our students. 20 Oct - Can AI be anti-racist?Prof. Gurnam Singh. Warwick UniversityJoin Gurnam in a thought-provoking exploration of the potential for AI to contribute to anti-racist efforts and promote equity and inclusion within educational contexts, in this timely and important conversation. 27 Oct - How is AI affecting HE libraries?Coco Nijhoff. Senior Teaching Fellow. Imperial College LondonIn this conversation Coco will discuss how Higher Education libraries have responded to the quickly changing landscape of generative AI tools. She’ll present how the library at Imperial has developed guidance for the ethical use of information in light of generative AI, in alignment with local and institution-wide policy and guidance. 03 Nov - Images, video and AIKristina Thiele. Lecturer CCW, UALBased on Kristina’s own experience of using AI tools she will uncover the powerful synergy between AI and visual media, as she delves into the realm of images and videos, exploring how AI is shaping their creation, analysis, and educational potential. 10 Nov - Ethical curating using AI toolsElliot Burns and James Irwin, BA Culture Criticism and Curation, UAL.Elliot will explore the ethical dimensions of content curation through the lens of AI tools, gaining insights into responsible and inclusive practices that ensure information integrity and authenticity in this thought-provoking talk based on the experience of using these tool with his students. 1 7 Nov - Has AI stolen creative labour?Dave White. Dean of Academic Strategy, UALDave will lead a nuanced discussion about the intersection of AI and creative work, examining the complex dynamics surrounding the perception, impact, and potential collaboration between artificial intelligence and human creativity in this thought-provoking discussion that delves into the evolving landscape of creative labour. 2 4 Nov - AI and the Art SchoolMark Robinson. In this session, the team will give a brief overview of the book and select some of the contributions to explore with participants how these could be adapted for art school education. Mick and Rebecca will discuss how their experience and expertise in AI and Machine Learning research can be useful to underpin the use of AI in universities.
