AI Workshop Series: Coding and Training
Event Information
About this event
The way we think about computer technology currently is that software must be programmed to solve problems. Machine learning presents an alternative: that technological solutions to problems may be created through training machines rather than coding them. This change may do what our many efforts to encourage students to learn to code have failed to do so far: to empower individuals to solve complex problems themselves using technology, but without necessarily having deep technical knowledge of programming techniques, software libraries, frameworks and so on. If training a computer becomes more like training a human, then theoretically, anyone can do it. Furthermore, the challenges of life in an increasingly complex and uncertain world may necessitate these kinds of skills.
In this workshop we will explore the ways in which personal AI might help individuals to steer themselves, their careers, their learning and online social engagement through AI tools which they train. Using a simple example of personal learning data, these ideas will be explored.
Please note that lunch will be provided.
