Voce Books is a new independent bookshop for Birmingham, located at The Warehouse in Digbeth. We focus on the vibrant and boundary-breaking independent publishing scene, the site of some of the most eclectic and future-focused writing. We stock fiction, translations, poetry, the most interesting titles on culture and politics, magazines, zines & a little bit of art.New books. New voices.We believe that the best books have their own unique character, their own specific and distinctive voice, hence our name, Voce: the Italian word for voice. With carefully curated shelves categorised by individual publisher and two experienced booksellers dedicated to recommending books that showcase the true breadth and diversity of the independent publishing landscape both at home and across the world, Voce Books is an entirely contemporary and inclusive book space, inspired by the new, the unusual and the unexpected.

Hear from a true specialist of short-form fiction as award-winning Birmingham-based writer ALAN BEARD joins us at Voce to launch AFTERNOON DRINKING—his brand-new FLOODGATE PRESS collection of characteristically precise &amp; deftly moving prose. The event will be chaired by award-winning writer WENDY ERSKINE. ‘Genuine magic, dedication and acute gimlet-eyed perception...’ LUKE KENNARD, author of the Forward Prize-winning NOTES ON THE SONNETS ALAN BEARD has published two previous story collections, ‘Taking Doreen Out of the Sky’ (Picador, 1999) &amp; ‘You Don't Have to Say’ (Tindal Street Press, 2010). He won the Tom-Gallon award. He has had stories broadcast on Radio 4 &amp; in numerous magazines &amp; anthologies, including London Magazine, Critical Quarterly, Malahat Review, three appearances in Best British Short Stories (1991, 2011 &amp; 2024) &amp; Best Microfiction 2024. He is a longstanding member of Tindal Street Fiction Group. This is one of our HOME events, placing our great city right at the heart &amp; celebrating the depth &amp; diversity of the Birmingham &amp; West Midlands literary scene through talks, launches, symposiums &amp; more.
