Sustainability is at the heart of Alice Fox’s practice. The desire to take an ethical approach has driven a shift from using conventional art and textile materials into exploring found objects, gathered materials and natural processes.
In connection with her exhibition, Flaxen (21 June - 31 August, 2025), Alice will be offering a special workshop, Botanical Inks at Kestle Barton. This will take place on the final weekend of the exhibition, so it will be a last chance to see the show, as well as a special opportunity to work with Alice and learn about her unique process of engaging with 'place' and making materials from the natural environment.
Spend a day learning about botanical dye-based inks using materials gathered at Kestle Barton. Start the day with a foraging walk and work collaboratively to make a series of inks from what we find, using modifiers to extend the colour palette. This workshop will give you the skills to continue exploring your own foraged ink making after the workshop.
