All Volunteer Managers Are Liars! Yes, you read that right. It got your attention, didn't it? In this session delivered by Rob Jackson, we’ll explore together how we can transform the way we promote volunteering to the public, including different kinds of opportunities and messaging, and think about why we need to change our approach if we want to succeed in future.

Rob Jackson has over 30 years of experience working in the voluntary and community sector, holding a variety of strategic development and senior management roles that have focused on leading and engaging volunteers, including six years at Volunteering England. As well as the wealth of experience he brings, Rob’s work as an international consultant and trainer means he continues to be at the forefront of the key trends in volunteer management.

This online session will run from 10am to 11am and will be followed by a Volunteer Coordinators' Forum, which will run from 11am to 12:30pm and will focus on the crucially important issue of building flexibility into volunteering. We will explore why flexibility is increasingly so important, what it can mean in everyday volunteering and how different people are adapting their practice to build in more flexibility. The Forum is an opportunity for those people who recruit and manage volunteers in the borough of Richmond to network and share peer support and ideas.

The session is suitable for any trustee, staff member or volunteer in the Richmond borough who is responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers or who is thinking of using volunteers to support their work.

Rob Jackson is Director of Rob Jackson Consulting Ltd, a consultancy and training company that helps engage and inspire people to bring about change.

As outlined above, Rob has an extensive career in the voluntary sector and is co-author of The Complete Volunteer Management Handbook (DSC, 2012 and 2019) and From The Top Down - UK Edition (Energize Inc., 2015).
