Allendale Mini Challenge 2026

Get ready for Allendale Mini Challenge 2026! All welcome :-)

The Mini Allendale Challenge returns on Sunday 24 May 2026 as part of Allendale Mayfair weekend, with a fun Heroes & Villains theme for this year’s walk.

This is a circular 9-mile walk, starting and finishing in Allendale Market Place, taking in some of the very best scenery the area has to offer. The route begins with a riverside section, climbs through the surrounding hills, and finishes with a fell stretch on good, well-defined tracks. It’s a varied and rewarding walk that has become a firm Mayfair favourite.

Fancy dress is encouraged but not essential — whether you go full hero or villain, add a subtle themed touch, or simply turn up in colourful walking gear, the focus is on enjoying the countryside and being part of a great community day out.

The event runs in three timed waves, starting at 8:00am, 8:30am, and 9:00am, with 50 places available per wave. Please book the wave that best suits your group.

Please note that the route is not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies.

Hearty pre-walk breakfasts will be available in the Market Place from WHM Butchers, with the Forge Café and Allendale Tearooms also open as usual. On completion, walkers can head straight into the heart of the Mayfair festivities on the Square.
