Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) is the national institute for health data with a mission to unite the UK’s health data to enable discoveries that improve people’s lives. It is a charity funded by UK Research and Innovation, the Department of Health and Social Care in England and equivalents in Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland, and leading medical research charities.

Alliance Data Access Transparency Standards Showcase

Following the high calibre applications submitted for the <a href="https://ukhealthdata.org/news/funding-opportunity-to-improve-transparency-in-health-data-access-processes-for-research/" title="https://ukhealthdata.org/news/funding-opportunity-to-improve-transparency-in-health-data-access-processes-for-research/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Transparency Standards Funding</a> call announced in September 2023, HDR UK will be hosting an in-person Alliance Transparency Showcase on 22nd May 2024 1.30pm – 5pm (drinks and canapes will be served from 4pm), to share and celebrate the outputs and impact of all 19 funded projects from across the UK. See <a href="https://ukhealthdata.org/news/new-funding-awarded-to-improve-transparency-of-health-data-access-processes-for-researchers-and-the-public/" title="https://ukhealthdata.org/news/new-funding-awarded-to-improve-transparency-of-health-data-access-processes-for-researchers-and-the-public/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">awarded organisations</a>. The event provides a fantastic opportunity to meet the project leads in person and get further insight into the impacts of the funded projects and lessons learnt on adoption of the Transparency Standards, which are aimed at improving the clarity and accessibility of information about data access processes for the public and researchers. Angela Coulter (Former Chair of HDR UK's Public Advisory Board) will be charing this event. Speakers will include Nicola Hamilton and Emma Lagerstedt (Understanding Patient Data) and our public contributors. Some examples of projects Health Data Research UK funded via this funding Call include: <ul><li>Updates to website clearly setting out the steps required for data access process in an accessible structure and language (e.g., through diagrams, videos, animations, swim lane diagrams or process flows for both researchers and the public).</li><li>Creating dedicated webpages/website sections directed at different target audiences e.g., separate sections for researchers and members of the public.</li><li>Website content providing clear public benefit from use of data for research, with examples.</li><li>Open-access application forms and guidance notes, making it easier for researchers to identify requirements for access.</li></ul> <h3>The event will be in-person only.</h3>
