Description
InterEngineering North West partners with Arup and Rolls-Royce for an evening discussion on how you can be an ally in the workplace and help the drive for inclusion. The evening will be an opportunity for straight and LGBT+ staff to share their experiences and to discuss best practice in supporting LGBT+ colleagues.

Warrick Matthews
Executive Vice President, Rolls-Royce Control Systems

Warrick is a champion of diverse and inclusive workplaces as a result of his own personal experiences and through seeing first-hand the work of key Rolls-Royce customers such as Delta Airlines. He will talk about his experience as an ally and what motivates him to support LGBT+ equality.

Senior Civil Structural Engineer, Arup
Arup Connect Out LGBT+ Staff Network
Alex is an active member of Arup’s LGBT+ staff network and has a breadth of experience working for Arup in the UK, Singapore and Hong Kong. In parallel with his day job, his passion for inclusive working has led him to champion LGBT+ inclusion globally within the firm. He will share his experiences of working for Arup and explain why allies are an essential part of the inclusive workplace.

InterEngineering is a volunteer led grassroots initiative, founded from the Data Driven Diversity (the facts about being LGBT in the Engineering Profession) event. With support from the Royal Academy of Engineering and Stonewall, we want to help connect, inform and empower LGBT Engineers.
Connect
Provide networking opportunities for LGBT engineers in different companies to meet, discuss improvements that the profession could be making, and share best practice for growing company support.
Inform
Sharing and collecting experience and resources of LGBT people working in engineering and promoting wider initiatives within the industry to help promote diversity.
Empower
Running events to help LGBT engineers to create their own Business Resource Groups to promote and support diversity in their workplace, and providing a forum for smaller enterprises.
