An Early Spring Gathering

An Early Spring Gathering

Malone HouseBelfast, Northern Ireland
Sunday, Feb 22 from 12 pm to 1:30 pm GMT
Overview

This is part of a series of casual monthly walks from Feasting on Weeds

Please read through all the information below before booking.

Join me for this casual winter walk where we will discover and identify some winter and early spring plants. This will be a gentle dander to wake up our eyes to the first of the year's new growth. If you have ever been curious about foraging or if you have a little knowledge of plants but didn't know what to do with them then come spend some time learning about how to use the abundant and free ingredients that are all around us. These walks will finish with some tea and a snack.

Exact meeting details will be shared by email. This is part of a series of casual walks I will be running every month that will be based in Belfast parks and accessible by foot or by public transport - that’s how I will be getting there! These walks are for small sized groups and as much a get together to enjoy our special green spaces as they are a guided walk so come along with an open mind to enjoy the fresh air and slow walk as we find the plants together.

Important information

-There are two options to purchase a ticket. The standard is a suggested booking price but if this is a limiting factor please book through the pay what you can option - any amount is welcome.

- These events are designed for an adult audience (14+) but very well supervised younger children are welcome - please let me know if they are coming. Buggies may not be suitable depending on the route we take. Please contact me if you need more information.

- Unfortunately this is not a dog friendly session.

- Note that this is an educational walk and not a harvesting workshop. You may take a couple of samples of plants (with guidance) for your own reference.

- Any snacks provided at the end of the walk will be suitable for vegans/vegetarians but I am afraid I cannot cater to other dietary requests.

- This walk sticks mostly to the path but we may have a couple of hills to climb. If you have accessibility questions absolutely get in touch and I'd be happy to provide some more specific information on this.

- You are responsible for your own health and safety when walking around this site. Walks will run no matter the weather. Please come appropriately prepared with sturdy shoes, a rain coat and some drinking water.

Events are subject to permission.
