The evening has been put together by Nicola Heywood Thomas , Tracey Ewen Powell and Ray Holman. It will be an evening of interaction and display with the aim of teaching students, trainees and anyone wanting to get into the TV and Film industry how to work and behave effectively on set. Ray Holman has recently been nominated for the coveted ‘Costume Designers Guild’ award for his work on the multi award-winning, and hugely popular series ‘ Fleabag’ and has a wealth of experience designing on award-winning dramas, including ‘Dr Who’, ‘Broadchurch’, ‘The Split’ and ‘Liar’.Nicola Heywood Thomas has received countless awards, including the coveted ‘Lifetime Achievement’. Among the many strings to her bow, she currently presents a regular Arts programme on BBC Radio Wales.Specially developed by SET ETIQUETTE to help those starting out, Nicola and Ray will provide fascinating insights and tips on using the call sheet, an intrinsic part of the daily schedule of programme making and without, productions would be in chaos. A thorough, working knowledge of the call sheet is an absolute MUST and this is a unique opportunity for those wishing to break into this popular and competitive industry. You will leave with a working knowledge of how to use the call sheet properly, giving you a professional edge.Nicola and Ray have kindly agreed to take time out of their busy schedules to offer their precious insights to attendees of this special event. They will also offer valuable advice regarding on-set etiquette, rarely available, and generally only known by those working within the industry. They will also take part in a question and answers session.This will involve discussing how to read a call sheet and the language of filming, which means it will cover most departments from Assistant Directors, Runners, Make up, Costume, Sound, Camera Department and more. We all interact together to make an end product. Often when people are on trainee schemes or attached to productions there isn’t a chance to learn how to interact properly and efficiently, we hope this evening will shed some light on that process. We would also like to highlight meaningful ways in which to behave while at work in a disciplined situation but still be creative and have fun. As a backdrop to the evening Ray will bring some costumes from past productions for people to see and also we will show some trailers and clips from recent broadcast shows in order to help discuss different aspects of filming. We are looking for film students, costume students and trainees who are currently working or want to know how a set works as a top up to any training or studies. Plus welcome people from all walks of life, we would be grateful if you could pass this information onto anyone you think will be interested. This event will lead to further training opportunities, which will be more detailed and cover different subjects and departments. Be sure to secure your place for this hugely popular event now.
