About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Join Comma Press and the Arab British Centre to welcome celebrated Iraqi writer Hassan Blasim. Hassan will be discussing his latest book, Sololand (trans. Jonathan Wright), a collection of three darkly funny novellas set in Iraq and northern Europe. The characters in these stories all find themselves in impossible positions – from the ISIS cook working undercover to retrieve ancient manuscripts from a desecrated site, to the refugee in Northern Europe unable to process the devastating dislocation of exile. Hassan will be in conversation with the collection’s editor and founder of Comma Press, Ra Page.

Tickets are £10 and include refreshments. We have a limited number of free spaces available to those for whom the ticket cost is a barrier. If you would like to request a free ticket, or have any access requirements please email becky@arabbritishcentre.org.uk
