The Tumbling Lassie Committee are a group of volunteers, who practice law in Scotland. We are named after the central figure - the tumbling lassie - in a very early Scottish anti-slavery case, Reid v Scot of Harden (1687), the only surviving report of which contains the memorable words "But we have no slaves in Scotland, and mothers cannot sell their bairns."

Over 330 years later, tragically, slavery survives, even in Scotland. We work to spread awareness of the ongoing problems of modern slavery and people trafficking and seek to raise funds for charities that rescue victims of these crimes and support survivors as they recover, both in Scotland and in the developing world. Since our launch in 2015, we have raised over £120,000 for these causes. Thank you for your support.
