Field trip: Monday, 16th June. 7.30pm - 10.00pm Approx
Hearing the enigmatic song of the Nightjar drifting across a heathland at sunset is one of England’s great wildlife experiences. In this special two-part course we will shine a light onto the life of this incredible and mysterious bird.
The course starts with an online zoom session where you will learn all about the life history and folklore surrounding the Nightjar.
The second part of the course will be an evening field trip where we will hopefully hear the Nightjar’s strange song as it is broadcast across the darkening heathland and we’ll try to catch a glimpse of this elusive bird itself.
No experience of birds or birdwatching necessary.
Mike has spent 30 years sharing his passion and knowledge for birds at Sussex Wildlife Trust. Now retired, he continues to lead wildlife events both in the UK and abroad and finds nothing more rewarding than being able to inspire people to learn more about the wonderful landscapes and wildlife to be found in Sussex.
