An Evening with RGU – Alumni Event in Orkney

Hosted by the Vice Principal Research &amp; Deputy Principal, Professor Paul Hagan, this event is open to all alumni from Robert Gordon University (RGU) and Robert Gordon Institute of Technology (RGIT) who live in Orkney.
The Orkney Project is truly collaborative, involving individuals from across RGU working in partnership with Orkney Islands Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the local community.
The entrepreneurial and innovative spirit in Orkney, the abundance of cultural heritage and the strong sense of community and identity provides a wealth of opportunity for Orcadians. However, there are very real challenges facing the islands such as an ageing population, energy inefficient housing, difficulties in delivering social and health care, and the management of high volume tourism. RGU has a wealth of experience and expertise in these areas and, over the last two years, has established a base in Stromness and worked alongside local partners to help to develop and deliver meaningful and impactful solutions. 
We would like to share with our alumni the outcomes and impact of our projects to date, as well as our initiatives and plans for the future. These include the further expansion of our Graduate Apprenticeship programme, enabling more students to work full-time and remain in Orkney, and the launch of a project to help small businesses and entrepreneurship to thrive. We would also welcome your feedback and hear any ideas you may have for future collaborative projects and activities. 
The evening will provide an opportunity to reconnect with the University, meet other alumni, explore how you can get more involved with the work taking place in Orkney and discover how RGU can continue to support you throughout all stages of your career.
The event is free to attend and light refreshments will be served. Alumni are very welcome to bring a guest along to the event.
