An exploration of the senses at night with MIND
Join Norfolk and Waveney Mind to explore your senses and observe our night sky at Caister-on-Sea.
Experience the beach in a completely new way by intentionally heightening your hearing, smell, touch, and sense of space in low light. This gentle mindfulness walk (approximately 1km in total) invites you to slow down and tune into the world around you.
We'll gather to look up at the night sky and — weather permitting — enjoy the magical Quadrantid Meteor Shower, known for its strong activity of up to 120 meteors per hour.
By focusing on what’s present beyond your usual visual distractions, you’ll form a deeper, more meaningful connection to the environment and rediscover the familiar as something truly wonderful.
Meeting point:
Caister Independent Lifeboat (Visitor Centre entrance), Beach Road car park, Caister-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth NR30 5HD.
What to bring:
- Warm layers and suitable footwear for the beach/dunes (dress for the weather)
- A towel or exercise mat to sit on
- A flask if you have one
Accessibility note:
The lifeboat station’s ramp ends at the beach. This point is well-lit and accessible, but wheelchair users would not be able to travel further onto the sand unless using a wheelchair specifically designed for beach terrain.
