<h3>This training introduces trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists to key concepts of intersectionality, power and oppression in therapy practice. It is also suitable for helping, education and healthcare professionals. </h3><h3></h3><p>This presentation pays particular attention to the role of colonialism and white supremacy in the early development of psychotherapy, with a strong emphasis on anti-racism. It covers:</p><ul><li>Introduction, definitions and positions key terms</li><li>Location of therapist self and Social Graces</li><li>Systemic violence and oppression in therapy as a microcosm of wider systems</li><li>Colonialism and psycho-pathologization</li><li>Medical racism</li><li>Racism in education</li><li>Defence mechanisms and whiteness</li><li>Enactments of violence and systemic violence</li><li>Q&amp;A</li></ul><p></p><p><strong>As a special thank you, all Patrons will have free access to this lecture. </strong></p>

<h3>About Sage M Stephanou</h3><p>I am the founder and a co-director of the <a href="https://www.radicaltherapistnetwork.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Radical Therapist Network</a>, as well as a supervisor, experienced art therapist, educator, group facilitator, and community organiser, with a specialism in anti-oppressive therapeutic praxis. </p><p>My approach as an educator, facilitator and community organiser is explicitly tied with experiential, creative and embodied group processes, and co-created healing and un/learning spaces.
