AN INTRODUCTION TO STAINED GLASS CREATIONS
10/09/25 to 22/10/2025 - Wednesday evenings, from 6.30 - 9pm
This practical workshop is a perfect introduction to stained glass work for beginners or those wishing to refresh and extend their knowledge. If you have already been to one of our Saturday workshops you are most welcome to join us again and use your skills to develop and create your own larger scale designs and project pieces.
Course Outline
1 . Design: to include how to display your piece, creating a pattern and glass selection
2 . Getting the most out of your glass: to include how to score and cut glass, composition of cutting lines and how to grind glass pieces to fit your design
3 . Working on your project: to include how to fix mistakes and how to use supporting rods
4. Working on your project
5. Working on your project: to include how to copper foil and burnish your work
6. Working on your project: to include getting ready to solder your work
7. Finishing your project: to include soldering, patina and aftercare
Our tutor Jeanette will guide and encourage you through the process in a friendly and supportive environment with plenty of individual attention and support. By the end of the course, you will have a unique and beautiful creation to take home with you, as well as an understanding of the techniques and tools involved to move on to additional projects and creations.
What do I need to bring ?
All the basic materials and equipment you require for this course will be provided and are included in the price.
Please note that additional costs will be incurred for the purchase of specific glass pieces for your individual projects. Our tutor Jeanette will assist you with your glass choices and quantities to order.
We suggest you wear older clothes, and a long-sleeved top to the classes.
Who is this class suitable for ?
The class is ideal for both beginners and those with some previous experience, but because of the lead content of the solder, this workshop is not suitable if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
