About this event

Join us for a field session to practise your identification skills for spring butterflies and day-flying moths. This will take place at Small Dean Lane Bank : a steep bank with limestone grassland and scrub that is managed for its wildlife.

The focus will be on building your confidence in the accurate separation of common species from scarce species, not a long species list.

You will get the most out of this event if you have attended Nick Bowles’ online Zoom training on the key points of Identification (2nd May): https://us06web.zoom.us/j/85777963252?pwd=KRWvdHvBRZKF3b7q5hnndKWABXsHZH.1 Meeting ID: 857 7796 3252 Passcode: 317817

A pair of close-focusing binoculars and a butterfly net would be useful if you have them.

Accessibility & risks: Steep slopes, rabbit holes and other trip hazards. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks. (Tick advice)

Please check here the evening before the event to make sure it is going ahead as planned. This page will be updated regularly.

If you book but can no longer attend, please CANCEL so others can make use of the opportunity.
